FBA GUIDE
Amazon FBA Profit Margin: What to Include
A useful estimate starts with a complete list of revenue and per-unit costs.
Start with selling price
Your selling price is the revenue side of the calculation. Keep discounts or promotions in mind if your typical realized price is lower than the listed price.
Include the major costs
Common inputs include product cost, Amazon referral fee, FBA fulfillment fee, inbound shipping, storage and other per-unit costs, advertising, and a reserve for returns or unexpected costs.
Profit versus margin
Profit per unit is revenue minus costs. Margin expresses that profit as a percentage of selling price. ROI answers a different question: how much profit you generate relative to a chosen investment base.
Use an estimate, then validate
Amazon fees and operating costs can vary by marketplace, category, size tier, storage period, and other details. Use the calculator as a planning model and validate important assumptions against current source data.
